This year the Festival was held with the assistance of a grant given by the Ministry of Development and Trade of Perm region.

Now “The Diamond Pin” has new goals, namely to support and encourage small and medium level businesses in the service and fashion industries, together with the stimulation of the professional skills of designers and artists, which resulted in over 60 fashion designers from the town of Ivanovo and from the Perm, Omsk, Chelyabinsk and Udmurtiya regions participating in the festival.
The Panel of Judges consisted of fashion experts and representatives of the fashion industry namely, Larissa Missjo, the chief merchandiser and the designer of the corset line “Clothes from “Christie” (Moscow), Irina Ashkinadze, the general producer of the fashion week prêt-a-porter “Défilé on the Neva” and the owner of a Russian fashion boutique “Défilé” (St.Petersburg), Alexander Hilkevitch, a fashion analyst and the editor in chief of professional magazines “The Dressmaker’s”, “Fashion Industry” and «International Textiles», together with Vera Tugova, the President of the International Competition for young fashion designers “Exercice”, and others.
The general opinion of the fashion Gurus’ from Moscow, is that marketing plays the key role in fashion nowadays and that every collection starts with the determination of the requirements of the consumer society, but does not exclude the talent of any designer, his perception of world fashion tendencies and the ability to embody them.
The Panel of Judges made no allowances to the participants in regards of economic problems, or distance from the world fashion centers, making it extremely challenging to win in the competition of the Festival “The Diamond Pin” especially with there being 28 collections presented.
The Grand Prix was given to the collection called “The Late Frosts” by Olga Kasatkina, representing Ivanovo State Textile Academy, this designer presented dresses of light flaring out silhouettes, in which the combination she used of plain, patterned and woven fabrics created a detailed and unique appearance. she also embodied an extremely fashionable detail, the sleeves, which were mostly short, three quarters, or balloon shape.
In the most popular nomination, “The Urban Clothing”, the winner was a young designer from Perm, Konstantin Novochenko, with his collection “Spa Retro”, in which he presented themes from the 60-s, recently very fashionable. These ranges consisted of blue-grey-silver colours, slim-line checked trousers, fitted shirts worn outside the trousers, and narrow ties.
The collection was successfully well set off with panama hats and string bags filled with oranges. However it was not the intention to copy the 60’s styles but to present today’s trend of casual dress, shirts being decorated with prints, ties bright and colourful.
